Hi. I’m Frankie Kangas. I am a web developer and sculptor. I absolutely love polar bears. I read about, write about or sculpt Polar Bears every day.

After successful careers in marketing, my husband and I became involved with the online world. I was introduced to the art world and sculpting in particular in 1999. My art focuses on Lions, Fu Dogs and Bears (OH MY!).

I wear one of my hand-sculpted Polar Bear necklace every day. And, I like to find ways to help Polar Bears and advertise their plight in every way I can. That’s why I created this blog. I’ve also created several other sites. Are You Polar Bear Aware? has loads of information, pictures and links to organizations that are trying to save Polar Bears and the other 7 species. All the money earned on that site is donated to National Wildlife Federation and Polar Bears International to save polar bears.

In November of 2007, David Boone, of Cabin Fever Art fame, and I have joined together to create a polar bear cartoon site called Cartoons.polarbearnews.com. Check it out. I think you’ll enjoy it.

While web development feeds my stomach; sculpting feeds my soul.

Below is, Bearing Down, one of my polar bear sculptures. It is ceramic with a Horsehair and Feather Raku finish. 2 feathers are on his back and the other lines were made by real horsehair.

Next is Bast also ceramic. She is wearing one of my Horsehair Polar Bear necklaces.
